Field show tournament 10/6

The Kaiser Band and Color Guard will be competing on Saturday, October 6, in the WUHSD Field Tournament at California High School in Whittier.

We will be sending an itinerary a few days before the event, but our performance will be at 8:45pm and awards at 10:00pm, so it will likely be a report time in the early afternoon and back at the school about midnight.

We still need need volunteers to help with moving props onto the field. Please let us know if you are able to do this. We will be having practice on Tuesday night with the band and guard. At the competition, we have three minutes to get everything setup, so we need to have enough people and make sure everyone knows what they are doing.

The price for admission to just watch is Adults $8, Students w/ID $5, kids 5 and under free.

Directions to California High School can be found here:

More information about the competition is available here:

On another note, we are selling sno-cones at Fontana’s Grillin n Chillin event this Saturday, 9/29, from 10am – 3pm at Fontana Park. The city is helping us out with this, it would be great to see everyone come out and support the city. Besides the sno-cones everyone should come buy, there will be barbecue and other activities.

Field show volunteers

Good morning parents,

For field shows this year, we have a lot of equipment and props to push onto the field. We are going to need about 20 parent volunteers to help with this. Unfortunately, most of these volunteers will have to drive themselves to the field shows because we have limited bus space.

We are having rehearsal for this at next week’s Saturday morning practice (9/29). Please, if you can do this, let us know. You can reply below or use the contact form or contact Lulu or Isabel.

Please help out if you can, we really can’t do this without you!

Thank you!

Popcorn fundraiser due Monday

The popcorn fundraiser is due this Monday 9/17. This is a great opportunity to raise money to be able to go to competitions. Even one item sold by each person in band AND guard would get us a lot closer to being able to go to our next competition.

Thank you for your support!

Donation request for water bottles for the kids use at competitions

Our water bottles are wearing out, so we need to get new ones. We would greatly appreciate it if some parents could each get one for the band and color guard from Big 5 and bring it in for hydrating the kids. Our next outing could be this Friday if we get called back for the championships at the Fair.

Thank you very much!

Donation letter available

If you are looking to solicit donations from businesses, we have a letter that you can give them that explains who we are and what kind of things we need. It is available on the Forms page, and at this link: 2018-19 Band Donation Letter

Thank you for everything you do!

Safety, again

Last week, after the football game, somebody hit our pit cart with their car and damaged it pretty badly. We had just recently had our pit cart fixed earlier in the week.

We do realize that accidents happen, but it would have been nice to have been informed. A witness came forward to let us know that our cart had been damaged by someone hitting it with their car.

So for the safety of our children, and also to ensure that there is no more damage to our equipment, the cones will be up. We will no longer be taking them down for anyone to come pick their child up by the band room.

You are welcome to park anywhere outside of the coned area, and your children can go ahead and meet you out there. We hope everybody understands that we are only looking out for the safety of our students. We are also trying to do all we can to ensure that our equipment, that is not cheap, is not further damaged.

Thank you for understanding.

Itinerary for Los Angeles County Fair Marching Band Competition

Make sure you bring everything you need for parade: shoes, socks, gloves, spats, extra reeds, etc. You should bring any hygiene products you might need like deodorant (the others on the bus will appreciate it), but take it easy on the Axe and other perfumes please.

You’ll be changing on the bus after you march, so you will want to wear something under your uniform that you can be seen in and you’ll be comfortable wearing for the rest of the night.

If you are in band and have long hair, regardless of gender, be ready to have it up in a shako bun — bring bobby pins.

Make sure you eat a good lunch and are well hydrated. It will be HOT. Bring money for food and fun after you march — your entry to the fair is free, but food and rides are not.
