Itinerary for Los Angeles County Fair Marching Band Competition

Make sure you bring everything you need for parade: shoes, socks, gloves, spats, extra reeds, etc. You should bring any hygiene products you might need like deodorant (the others on the bus will appreciate it), but take it easy on the Axe and other perfumes please.

You’ll be changing on the bus after you march, so you will want to wear something under your uniform that you can be seen in and you’ll be comfortable wearing for the rest of the night.

If you are in band and have long hair, regardless of gender, be ready to have it up in a shako bun — bring bobby pins.

Make sure you eat a good lunch and are well hydrated. It will be HOT. Bring money for food and fun after you march — your entry to the fair is free, but food and rides are not.

Pick up safety

Because last week, when the kids were marching in, there were parents that were driving past them, very closely, instead of waiting and letting them come into the band room safely, cones will be going up on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 p.m to prevent cars from coming near or past the band room doors.

If you would like to park on the other side of the cones, you will need to do so before the cones go up. Otherwise, everyone will need to park on the other side of the cones; they will not be moved.

Also on Saturdays, depending on what time the kids are let out, the cones will be going up 30 minutes before they come in.

We have to look out for the safety of our children. We hope you all understand.

Parent meeting 8/14

The next parent meeting of the Band Boosters will be Tuesday, August 14 at 7pm in the band room. We are moving it from the usual Third Thursday because Thursday, 8/16 is Back to School night for Kaiser.

See you there!

Fontana Walks this Saturday, July 21

On Saturday July 21, 2018 we have been invited by the Mayor Acquanetta of Fontana to join her and many others to do a Fontana Community walk. It is on July 21st at 7am and will last for about 2 hours at the Jessie Turner Center/ Fontana Park by Summit High School. Mayor Acquanetta will like all students of The Kaiser High School Catamount Pride Marching Band and Color Guard that are going to be performing at the Rose Parade to attend this walk to help support our community that we will representing in the Rose Parade for 2019. The Fontana Walks! is trying to reach 2 billion steps within a year and Mayor Acquanetta will love for the Kaiser Band and Color Guard students to be apart of it. Participants are free and can join anytime. There is a registration form that can be done online on the Fontana Community website https://www.fontana.org/FormCenter/Community-Services-9/Fontana-Walks-Registration-Form-71 or at the Jessie Turner Center/ Fontana Park on the day of the walk. We are encouraging all the student at Kaiser and those who are coming back to join us for this occasion. All students that will be participating must meet at the Center/ Park at 6:45am and must be picked up at the same place promptly by 10 am. Students that are going wear your Kaiser Band T-shirt or your band Jacket to represent the school. If you are a rookie and does not have one just wear a black shirt. Where to get guard items

Trying to collect the things that each guard member needs besides what is ordered through the band boosters.

Each guard member needs three silver six foot poles. One place to get them from is The Band Shoppe: https://www.bandshoppe.com/Aluminum-Color-Guard-Flag-Pole-p/ve102.htm Make sure you select silver for the color.

Also, they need a pole bag. They are available from Amazon.com (among other places): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010T6LDFK

They also need white electrical tape and black electrical tape. These are available at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

They need a rifle. 37 1/2″, white with silver bolt and no strap. This is also available from The Band Shoppe: https://www.bandshoppe.com/DSI-Elite-5-Rifle-without-Strap-p/ve606.htm

And, they need fingerless gloves. https://www.bandshoppe.com/DSI-Ever-Dri-Leather-Fingerless-Gloves-p/gl445s.htm They should be “nude” color.

Hope this helps. There are a few more small things that we need: weights & caps for the poles, a yoga mat, and jazz shoes (for field). I will add here as soon as I find out the exact ones.

Those that are doing parade will need white Dinkles. https://www.bandshoppe.com/Dinkles-Glide-Marching-Band-Shoes-p/4055-4075s.htm
